I host the Thursday show at the Comedy Palace every week and it’s a lot of fun – mostly. I say ‘mostly’ cos once in a while you have that night when an audience just doesn’t come together. It’s funny how it happens too. It’s not like they arrived on the same bus and agreed to not be cohesive when the show started. It’s like a flock of birds bumping into each other. I’m just standing there on stage with a big lump of bread going ‘Here Birdies’. Thursday night won’t be like that and I know it … the stars are aligned and DJ Sandhu, my comedian friend from Sacramento is headlining along with a stellar cast of hilarious people – like Matin Atrushi 🙂 Tony Calabrese and I will be breaking out our first ‘duo’ act and I am pretty excited about it. Mildly excited. Mostly. Come and find out what happens
I’m on the next 2 shows with the original winner of Last Comic Standing Dat Phan and I can’t wait. I’ve been lucky enough to host a few of the shows in the last few months and these are both going to be fun as well. January 24 and February 28 .. both shows starting at 6pm on Sunday Nights. Perfect timing to actually get a parking spot in La Jolla at the Comedy Store and still get home pretty early for your favorite Sunday Night TV 🙂 Just text me to get a hold of $10 tickets for the show. Don’t wait till the last minute – they ALWAYS sell out. No food at the Comedy Store .. just popcorn and yummy cocktails.
I get to headline my favorite show twice a year .. you know it. Comedy Heights. The little show that could 🙂 Comedy Heights was started by Al Gavi and Gina Manning about 5 years ago as a twice monthly show next the coffee at Twiggs in University Heights, and when Gina moved to LA, she recommended me to Al and Al is super smart so he listened to Gina and brought me on as his new partner. We went weekly. Booked some amazing comics and tah dah! 2 years later it’s one of the best shows in town. I’m so proud of what we’ve been able to accomplish. And now I get to headline and play with some fabulous people I love to work with. Tony Calabrese is my feature … plus some of my UBER good friends Toni Torquato and Gene Levin who run their own show at the Space Bar in La Mesa once a week, and newcomer Danielle Marie Thomas. It’s going to be fun … hope you can join us!
The Irvine Improv is an amazing venue, so I hope some people will brave the wet and come out and get some laughs with me and headliner Tony Calabrese. Jim Taylor is a fantastic producer and funny comedian … so I expect it’ll be a FUN NIGHT. $5 at the door 🙂 Come by 700pm to get your food order in. It’s delish!
I’m working on my scariest bits for Halloween … or maybe anything to keep kids away from my candy stash at the door … either way we’re having fun with it. Thursday Comedy at the Comedy Palace is really taking off as the best Kurdish Australian comedy in Southern California .. maybe ALL of California. Matin Atrushi and I think Jimmy Kimmel will be calling any minute to book us. Well, any hour.
Comedy Heights is definitely having a show on Halloween and we’ve booked Joseph De Paul the Comedy Magician to headline .. so put on your costumes and plan to stop at the show everyone is ‘yelping’ about.
Great headliners and a ton of fun every Thursdays at the Comedy Palace! Join Matin Atrushi and me for laughs from 8pm. Doors open 7pm. Just text 619 993 3402 to get on the VIP list for FREE ENTRY!
We’ve had everyone on this show from Drew Lynch who made it to the Top 10 of America’s Got Talent… to Last Comic Standing’s Taylor Tomlinson and Dat Phan.
NBC’s Chuck Star Mark Christopher Lawrence is a regular, along with San Diego favorites Erik Knowles, Jesse Egan, Bijan Mostafavi, and the likes of Andrew Norelli who’s appeared on Jimmy Kimmel a bunch of times. Great Comics every week. 🙂
Finally … Tony Calabrese is opening for me. It had to happen sooner or later. And yes it’s all happening at our establishment of choice @spacebar in La Mesa, Friday July 24th 7pm. Kathleen Finney runs that room again, likes she used to a gazillion years ago, except now there’s beer and wine 🙂 It’s a $10 cover that gets you a free beverage of your choosing. And then you laugh for 90 minutes. Whether you like it or not. Trust me. It’s painless. Well mostly. 7454 University Ave, La Mesa 91942
Then Wednesday August 8th 7pm I’m at Java Joe’s with Jennifer Congernaum and Steve Heyl who run the show twice a month. It’s a hip little joint and that show will be a lot of laughs too. No Cover. No Drink Minimums. 3536 Adams Ave, SD 92116.
Winner of the World renowned Seattle Comedy Festival, Zoltan Kaszas headlines the Show this Thursday! He’s been headlining all over the country so we are lucky to have him on the show this week. Also Keith Michael Ashton returns from LA, and it’s pretty much a round out of the United Nations for the rest of the show. LOL. Message me here or on Facebook to be added to the VIP NO COVER list at the door. And we’ll see you there!
Karen Rontowski headlines the April monthly Freakin’ Funny Females Comedy Show at the Comedy Palace. I’m booking every Thursday at the Palace, and every FIRST THURSDAY it’s just the Ladies. Karen has been on Letterman a bunch of times, plus Comedy Central and all of the major late night networks and comedy channels – she’s a STAR! And then I also booked the hilarious Kat Radley and Kazumi Kusano … together an amazing show just on it’s own .. but we also have San Diego local favorites Jennifer Congernaum and Jennifer Purdie and I’m hosting. So basically it’s one funny chick after another. You really can’t go wrong. Add in the fact that an RSVP to the Facebook event, or direct to the Comedy Palace with the code ‘funny’ means you get in NO COVER and that’s just plain ‘too easy’. There’s a 2 item minimum, but chances are you were going to buy a drink and something to nosh anyhow .. so then it’s just finding a parking spot and there’s a ton right next to the venue. See you April 2nd! Woot! Thursdays at the Palace ROCK!
TGIT at the Palace is proud to present a hilarious lineup of really funny Baby Boomers this week at the Comedy Palace.
America’s Funniest Banker is headlining. That’s right–San Diego’s very own Tony Calabrese is leading the pack of funny boomers. He’s Italian and he’s got connections. No, not those connections. The funny kind.
Tony will be joined by Scott Blumen, Simon Blackthorn, Gene Levin, Matin Atrushi, and Iris Neal.
There is no cover charge if you RSVP in advance with the secret code: Funny. The show starts promptly at 8pm but the doors open at 7pm for dinner and drink service.
